The dan-da-da-da iPhone!

Well, it's iPhone Launch day. Cool.

I would take one. But it's overpriced ($499 or $599)and underfeatured (only 4 Gig or 8 Gig of space), if you ask me. It sure is purty though!

Natalie

I just made a call to Sprint/Nextel's customer care like I do once or twice a week every week for some kind of change. I spoke with Natalie there. I don't know her last name, but she has to have been the cheeriest of all the reps I've talked to there - and I've made lots of calls. She spoke well and clearly, and had a smile in her voice. It was an entirely pleasant call. So if anyone from Sprint or Nextel reads this, Natalie is doing a great job. :)

Bad Darrell

Bad me: blogging at work again!

I was just reading my favorite Japanese Online News thingy and found this interesting story.

Hollywood in need of Japanese, which talks about how many Hollyweed movies are filled with Chinese and South Korean actors playing Japanese roles. This is a travesty! That's like a Caucasian playing a native American part just because both actor and character are from the same part of the world. Bah! :)

Potter in Paper

I was just reading this and enjoying it a lot. Here's my favorite quote from the story:

Daniel is as interested as any of the millions of Harry Potter fans in finding out Harry's fate when the seventh and final book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is out. "I have no idea what will happen," he says. "There's certainly a possibility that Harry might die. I've been told that people in Las Vegas are placing bets over whether he'll live or die, which is hilarious. Will it make me sad? No. I think if Harry dies in a heroic way, it's a good way for him to go."

This is for the real geeks. 99% of the people won't understand why or even care, but I think this is just too cool.

Credit Report Update

I was even more encouraged to get my credit report from watching FRONTLINE's "Secret History of the Credit Card" on their website. I have to say though, I'm not very happy with Equifax. Apparently I answered something wrong and now I have to mail in a form. I didn't even get a second chance to answer different questions or anything. Plus, I bought my FICO score from them and I wasn't able to get that either. That is annoying...

The site is Annualcreditreport.com if you missed my last post.

Fun, or not, well maybe

I'm not sure if I'm enjoying what I'm doing or not: I'm at the computer but I'm cleaning. So do I say "fun" because I'm at the computer, or "not" because I'm cleaning? I'm deleting old junk and moving things around. I have a metric ass ton (serious, you should weigh it) of disk storage in this house and I'm always filling it up. I need a drobo!!!! Gaa gaa gaa...I really want a Drobo! My Netgear StorageCentral is OK, but it doesn't do all that. On the other hand, StorageCentral was only a hundred bucks, not five hundred, and it is ethernet based. Their videos are cool to watch, but I also like the more "independent" take that Patrick and Robert have.

Oops, looking up the drobot link too about 20 minutes, during which time I forgot what I was doing and watched this video. Love it!!!!!!! I want to do something like this at work! Those people work for a company called Connected Ventures - they bring you the fun fun fun of The CollegeHumor Network: Big Shocker, Busted Tees, CollegeHumor, Defunker, & Vimeo. I hadn't seen #1 of #5 before. Be warned that you will learn something you may not want to if you click on Big Shocker. Suffice it to say that it may be a (you guessed it) big shock.

Andy

Andy is being a good boy this morning. He's setting on the floor amusing himself. He's shredded some paper (I've always wanted a home paper shredder), looked at the Three little kittens lost their mittens book, done a thorough analysis of the fake wood grain on my TV cart, and dug out a sock that was hidden under said cart.

He's really beginning to crawl a lot now. Mostly it's soldier crawl on his belly, but he is also getting up on all fours a little. He drinks down a 4 oz bottle of Gatorade or milk n yogurt in no time flat now too. He's fun and curious.

Warped

I just got Paint Shop Pro version 11 and have been playing with it. It has some weird tools built in. I think this warp tool has always been there, but it is easier to use now...inspect my distrubing results.

Ooooooooooooh! Scaryyyyyyyyyyy! :)

Randomness

Typing w/ 1 hand as Andy is occupying the other. :)

I'm about to get my free credit reports. This is not a scam or sales pitch like freecreditreport.com is. Anualcreditreport.com is a safe, free site provided by the three big credit rating agencies for you under the law. "This central site allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion."

I've also just found a note from back in the RuneScape days while cleaning up. I often think of how much fun RuneScape was and miss it. Like a smoker misses his cigarettes after he's quit, I think. "Seri Ceri's name is Janelle. She lives in California. She knows my hide buying secret. She never sells, but we did meet once so I could give her a chef hat." Those were the days. Seri Ceri, thanks for making RuneScape that much more fun.

Also someone told me a neat little phrase. Actually two different people told me two today.

While talking about how much (how little really) I charge for consulting: "Pigs get fed, Hogs get slaughtered." Good advice.

The other, after I said I'm fine today, was: "Any day not six feet under is a good day!" Agreed!

That's all for now. Playing Knights of the Old Republic on my Xbox. Just started it. Lots of fun. Still have to finish Diablo 2 again though.

A great joke

Maybe the best joke I've heard all month...

Q: Why did the guru refuse Novocaine when he went to his dentist?
A: He wanted to transcend dental medication.

I've been enjoying the ClipBook tool on CartoonNetwork's website today. Try it out!

My Accent

What American accent do you have?

Midland

("Midland" is not necessarily the same thing as "Midwest") The default, lowest-common-denominator American accent that newscasters try to imitate. Since it's a neutral accent, just because you have a Midland accent doesn't mean you're from the Midland.

I've worked hard to get rid of the country accent that I was made fun of so badly in high school for. Maybe I've succeeded. Yay!

Weird on Amazon

There are tons of weird-ass things on Amazon. This is just one...

Fresh Whole Rabbit (only $29.50)

One of the customer reviews, which I LMAO at, follows:

By maus:
We served this juicy but very sassy bunny at a party for friends including Sir Elmer Fudd, Wile E. Coyote from the Arizona Coyote family, Pete Puma, a gentleman from Tasmanian, Samuel from Yosemite CA, and a man named Marvin who likes to dress as an ancient Roman. Unfortunately a Doctor friend and his very long red-haired assistant with tennis shoes could not attend. Neither could a gentleman from Africa who is taking care of a newborn bundle of joy the stork just delivered. In any case, everyone at attendance was extremely satisfied. The meal was a big success compared to the duck we had last year. Everyone agreed it was gamy and daffy. Next year we are going to try something Southwestern. I hear from Mr. Coyote that there's a bird hard to catch but very tasty. I'll keep you all informed.

How Crop Circles Work

The sun sets on a field in southern England. Next morning, a large section of the crop has been tamped into a pattern of circles, rings and other intricate geometric shapes. But who created it? Are crop circles the work of alien visitors? Or are they elaborate hoaxes perpetrated by savvy, talented and very determined circlemakers?

Desktop Tower Defense

For the last hour or so, I've been playing Desktop Tower Defense. Fun little game. Here's my masterpiece...I didn't keep my jot down my score, but it was something like 1250.

Boobies (and Pizza) !!!

This is a pretty amazing boobie cake that I just ran across on Flickr. Artfully created by DebbieDoesCakes.

She also has a pizza cake, the eating of which* would probably get one in less trouble!

Here's the Debbie Webbie.

*not to mention posting of which on one's blog...

RIP Diablo

Woo Hoo! Another Diablo is in the can!

Ooh! I deleted 1600 messages out of my hotmail today. Yeah! I only have like 3 in my inbox now. Now, only Yahoo and Gmail left. Ugh...

Diablo again

I've almost completed Act IV of Diablo 2. I keep telling Jen that I was to "Battle the forces of Heck." Coming up on the battle with the (other) Big D himself. Time to open up a can o whoop ass! Then, finally, act V, the expansion, which is why I'm playing thru this whole thing again anyway.

How embarrassinging!

Poor Hillary Clinton...everyone is making fun of her as if SHE made the stupid sign. Tsk Tsk!

Beyond Invention

I am absolutely going to be addicted to a new show on the Science Channel. Beyond Invention is a show about the genius inventors (or maybe the crackpots) of fringe science today. I just watched the episode about "Energy" profiling John Hutchison, Tim Ventura, and Joe Newman.

That was incredibly interesting. It took me back to when I was a kid watching good old Beyond 2000. It was that much fun!

I can't wait to watch more of this. There are clips on YouTube of it. Here's a clip of tonight's episode "New Energy". The production company, GryphonProductions, has several clips up actually. There's also info on their website.

DarrellH rating: 3 thumbs up!

Get a free coke

I just got a code for MyCokeRewards by clicking on one of their banner ads at the top of My Yahoo! If you sign up or sign in, and enter the code you get, you'll get a coupon mailed to you for a free 20 oz coke product! I just did it!

The code is different every time, so posting the one I got wouldn't have done any good...
