Our Planet Earth

I got this emailed to me and I just love it. I'm not sure just how digitally enhanced the pictures are, but I don't really care. This is beautiful.

I had no idea that night fell diagonally across the country...how about that?

The shape of the leading edge of night's shadow depends on what part of the year it is. On the equinoxes, it is a straight north-south line. On a solstice it is slanted the most (with more lit in the north in June and more north in shadows in December). It looks like the pic of North America was taken in the summer.
