Boon!

As I requested (prayed) before, the Internet Gods have Granted me a boon. We were able to get internet with Nextlink, and now I get 25 megabits up by 5 down for the same price I was paying for Nortex. Yahoozzz! I really like the people at Nortex, but the service out here in the country was not up to par.

Brendan is about to go to check into is college form room for the first time.

I just wrapped the month of hell at work and am now beginning to go back to normal.

COVID-19 sucks and we hate it. Fortunately I don't have any close close friends who've had it. Some coworkers from my old job have, and I'm scared. Washing hands 10 times a day (really) and wearing a mask in public. Some stupid morons feel that having to wear a mask takes away their rights. I'll give that up in order to continue living. I got lots to do yet. Andy is a Sophomore doing school from home this year, and Kayley is in 5th grade. Jen is teaching in-person, virtual, and with paper packets. She is a super-woman.

I'm back for a hot minute

It blows my mind that this is still here after all these years! I was trying to figure out my login for Runescape and came back here to try and find some clues, since I wrote a lot about Runescape on this blog. Didn't figure it out, but had some good feels. I'm playing Elder Scrolls Online now, and have been for about two years. We still live in the country and have shitty Nortex internet. I wish the internet gods would grant me a boon, because I'm in internet hell. But at least I can play some days.

Also, when I logged in here, Google offered to sell me some hilarious domains. Nope, but thanks for the lulz.

Can you heal Vesna?

I'm very very late to the game, but I just started playing The Witcher: Enhanced edition on Steam. I have a quest called "She's No Early Bird" which is to get Vesna back to her grandma's house.

I found an old topic online here http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/950892-the-witcher-enhanced-edition/46132576 that says you can't heal her. Well, got news for you boys, all you have to do its go and meditate for an hour at a fire and she's all healed up. Problem solved!

Reset Windows 8 Password

If you ever lose your Windows 8 password, here's a good way to get back into your computer. Of course, you'll lose all your files, but if you're dumb enough to forget your password, that's the price you pay. http://gateway-us.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27003 Use the following steps to reset Windows 8: From the login screen, click the power icon in the lower right corner of the screen. While holding Shift, click Restart. Click Troubleshoot. Click Reset Your PC. Click Next. The system will reboot and begin Preparing to Reset the PC. At the Reset your PC screen, click Just remove my files. Click Reset.

In case you are ever trying to get your WMP54G to be detected by a new freshly installed Windows 7, just plug in the wired network cable and have it search for the driver in windows update. It detects as some kind of Dell wireless card, and works great. I spent hours looking for a driver before plugging in the cable for something else and being pleasantly surprised that it found it right away.

Clonezilla

I haven't yet written about my new job at The Children's Shelter (which I started September 17, 2012.) I need to do that. What I'm here today to do though is remind myself about clonezilla.org, a free program that does the same thing as ghost or acronis.

CanoScan N670U Windows 7 Driver

I've been trying for weeks to get my Canon CanoScan N670U scanner working with Windows 7. Since there's no Windows 7 Win 7 driver for it, I tried instruction from here (http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/47041-canoscan-n670u-no-driver.html) which advised compatibility mode. I couldn't get that to work. I've also used the wonderful VueScan program at work (http://www.hamrick.com), but didn't want to buy it for home, even though I'm almost sure that spending the $40 would have solved my problem.

So, here's my solution to make the Canon CanoScan N670U scanner work with Windows 7.

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IT DOWNLOAD THE CanoScan LIDE 200 DRIVER FOR WINDOWS 7 FROM http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan_lide200#DriversAndSoftware

THAT'S IT!!!!!!! Weeks of tweaking and work, and I finally figured it out. Ahhhhh. Thanks for the no help, Canon. It would be ever so helpful if you would post that little tidbit of info on the N670U driver download page.
